Orlando Real Estate Recommendations: What To Do With Your Stimulus Check

In the event that you do receive the government stimulus check, we want to remind you that it is meant to help you pay your bills including mortgages, utilities, groceries, etc. It is intended to help us all through these times, especially if you are in need financially.  This is not intended for frivolous spending.  Be cautious of not paying your rent or mortgage payment! And watch out for mortgage companies offering forbearance options until you fully understand the consequences. Should this be the case and you need some help, do not hesitate to reach out to us and we can find some resources for you to get through these tough times.

If you have been fortunate to not be affected financially by this COVID-19 crises, then we would like to offer you some top real estate recommendations on ways you can use your stimulus check to benefit yourself from a real estate perspective but remember, be cautious to ensure this not frivolous spending.

One way would be to utilize the stimulus check as a down payment or to use it towards closing costs if you are ready to buy!  If you’ve struggled to save up for a down payment – this might be the perfect time for you to use this extra money to stop renting and start owning!  Call us with any questions!

Another key way that a homeowner can use this COVID-19/Coronavirus stimulus check is to make some home improvements that would add value to their home.  If you are single and receive the $1200 check – you may have to choose to do smaller versions of these. But if you are a “typical family of 4” that may receive up to $3400 in a stimulus check – these are our top recommended home improvement projects (in the estimated $3,000 budget) to help get your home ready to list in the Central Florida Real Estate market when you are ready:

  1. Bathroom Upgrade – We recommend upgrading lighting, the sink and counter top and the toilet.
  2. Kitchen Upgrade – We recommend upgrading appliances and preferably upgrading to all new stainless steel appliances, including Refrigerator, Stove/Oven, Dishwasher and Microwave.
  3. Plumbing – If you have polybutylene pipes, we DEFINITELY recommend using this money to re-pipe. But even if you don’t have that kind of piping, we recommend getting a quote on the price to re-pipe your house. It can really add value when you go to sell your home.

If you have any questions at all, or need a referral on who to call to get your upgrades done or questions about anything real estate related, we are here for you!!  Give us a call at 407-721-0611. We would be happy to talk about anything related to the Orlando Real Estate Market with you, and would love to be your Realtor when you are ready!
